You do kind of get used to it eventually and the trick is basically to not notice it - which is easier said than done. Sometimes I'm happily not noticing it, notice that I am not noticing it and then it comes into like hearing-focus again.

If I've unexpectedly been in a really noisy place, I find that putting some quiet music on helps when I'm trying to sleep as my brain grabs onto that sound to listen to instead of the ringing. The rest of the time I have two alarm clocks that tick slightly out of sync to listen to instead.

That last one may only work for me though.

The coughing is super annoying.
